FM250 Vampire has been well established on the market since 2009 and it has been continuously developing and improving since then. It is a modern two-seat plane that is of high quality, safe and reliable due to its precision design.

Construction is all-composite consisting of a fiberglass sandwich combined with carbon structural parts. It provides the crew comfort and elegant design that goes hand in hand with its excellent flight properties and easy controllability.

FM250 Vampire is available as „Ready to fly“ model with engine ROTAX 912 UL 80 HP or ROTAX 912 ULS 100 HP. Full dual controls are part of a standard configuration. There are also plenty of special accessories or options to make FM250 Vampire more customisable for different flying styles

Air-frame

The oval cross section of the fuselage of the sandwich composite structure achieves a favourable relation between the strength and weight and aerodynamic resistance of the plane. The wing has a trapezoid shape and a shell structure with main and secondary beams with carbon flanges. The main beams are connected to the central parts of the fuselage and connected with fixed pins. The wing is equipped with plain flap.

Landing Gear

The landing gear consists of composite landing gear legs with two main wheels and welded front leg with nose wheel. The main wheels are equipped with hydraulic disk brakes. The nose wheel is steerable.The brakes are hand-operated from both seats using a lever on the central console. The lever can be locked in the full back position; therefore it can be used as a parking brake. FM250 Vampire uses the high quality wheels and brakes fromt he Beringer company, as parts of a standard equipment. All wheels can be equipped with aerodynamic fairings.

.Fuel system

Other advantage of FM250 Vampire is the high flying range, up to 1200 km, is ensured by integral fuel tanks placed in both wings, which can contain up to 100 l of petrol. The fuel system consists of integrated composite fuel tanks in both wings with fuel level senders, fuel lines, fuel valve (selector), filters, fuel screens in the tanks, drain valves, mechanical and optionally electrical fuel pump.

Engine

Aircraft is powered by Rotax 912 UL 80 HP or 912 ULS 100 HP engine, which ensures the airplane’s excellent dynamic and flying characteristics. Engines Rotax 912 UL and 912 ULS are four-stroke four-cylinder opposed type engines with liquid-cooled cylinder heads and air-cooled cylinders. Due to the low weight of FM250 Vampire the engine is very brisk and it guarantees a short take-off run when taking off and a high travel speed at the same time.

Canopy

The panoramic glazing of the cockpit, which is lightly blue coloured, ensures an almost 360° view and gives you a perfect view in all flight phases. The canopy is opened forwards, against the flying direction, and is locked using a gas prop in its open position. The canopy opens so far that you can comfortably stand up into an upright position in the cockpit.

Cockpit

FM250 Vampire has a redesigned interior with comfortable leather seats and other improvements, which are based on the feedback of pilots and instructors. So you can really enjoy flying. The ergonomic interior gives you sufficient space for your head and shoulders. All controls, instruments and switches are well positionned in the visual field of the pilot and easy to access from the seats at the same time. Comfortable sitting is ensured by perfectly shaped seats, which are pleasant also for long flights; during thereof the crew will appreciate ventilation and the possibility of heating. In the rear part of the cockpit there is a spacious luggage compartment.

Avionics

FM250 Vampire uses only modern safety equipment with the name of the best quality. The hottest model of FM250 Vampire offers glass-cockpit the GARMIN G3X touch system and accessories. Radio and transponder can be installed under the seats and controlled directly from G3X, so you save place at instrument panel for adding your tablet. This system cooperate with GARMIN PILOT application in mobile phone and tablet, so you can plan your flight and follow it - that is absolutely easy.

Analogue version is still available for basic model and you can choose more improvements from Kanardia as well.

Safety

FM250 Vampire can be equipped with a ballistic parachute rescue system Magnum 501 or 601 placed in special carbon box behind the crew seats. The system controller is placed in the visual field of the pilot on the dashboard. The four-point belts along with the plane fuselage structure in the area for the crew, which creates a deformation zone, contribute to passive safety.

Towing of Gliders

Currently, when emphasis is laid especially on economical aspects during usual flying with gliders, tows using ultra-light planes are on the increase. We have wide experience with towing using the FM250 Vampire, both using the standard three-blade propeller adjustable on the ground and the propellers adjustable in flight. The FM250 Vampire is certified to fly tows up to 750 kg weight of glider.

Tests and production inspection

The FM250 Vampire has passed a complete aero elastic test, where a complete resonance ground test and the flutter test calculation were carried out within the certificate. As well as all load tests were supervised by representative of Authority. Parachute system was successfully tested by a ground shot even several times during the years. All our aircrafts are properly controlled in quality requirements during its production process and are tested before a hand-over to customer.
